Minister, please clean up the mercury poisoning the Wabigoon River

For eight years in the late 1960s and early 1970s, a paper mill in Dryden, Ont., dumped 20,000 pounds of mercury into the English-Wabigoon River.

An expert report was released earlier this year that says at least parts of the river and watershed can be remediated. Now, an investigation from the Toronto Star shows that there may be ongoing sources of contamination.

We need the Liberals to come clean on what they knew and when they knew it, and hold them to account to clean up the mercury poisoning the English and Wabigoon River systems. Please send a letter to the Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation and the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change using our easy form below. Or you can email them directly at dzimmer.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org and cballard.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org.

You can submit this letter as-is or change it in the text box to reflect your own voice. Your comment will be forwarded with the subject line 'Please come clean on the mercury poisoning the English and Wabigoon River systems' along with your name, email and postal code to dzimmer.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org and cballard.mpp.co@liberal.ola.org.
