
In Ontario there are more than 2.3 million people without a family doctor. That number is set to rise as family doctors retire and younger doctors choose other areas of practice.
Instead of acknowledging the problem and committing to solving it, this government is hiding the figures on the healthcare crisis because it would hurt their bargaining with Ontario’s nurses and doctors.
Doctors are being bogged down by red tape. Recently family doctors reported that they are spending 19 hours a week on paper work. When our family doctors are spending almost half their week on paperwork and not treating patients it’s no wonder they’re leaving the profession.
Ontario Greens are standing with our doctors calling on Premier Ford and Health Minister Sylvia Jones to listen to the people on the front lines and cut the red tape that’s strangling primary healthcare in Ontario.
