Protect Ontario’s precious wetlands

Doug Ford has it out for wetlands.

His sprawl agenda, Highway 413, and Bill 23 have all put our vital wetlands at risk.

Highway 413 alone would destroy some of Ontario’s most significant wetlands – precious natural resources already in short supply.

Wetlands play a key role in protecting us from floods by soaking up stormwater runoff. They improve water quality, protect us from soil erosion, and provide habitat for threatened species.

But our wetlands are disappearing at an alarming rate. An estimated 85 per cent of wetlands in southern Ontario and the GTA have already been lost.

To make matters worse, the government gutted the province’s wetland evaluation system despite receiving almost 15,000 submissions opposing the changes.

We can’t let this happen. Join us and tell Ford to stop paving over our wetlands and permanently protect the few we have left.
