Now that Ontarians have won the fight for the Greenbelt, the Premier wants the questions to stop.

Questions like: Why did his government go to such great lengths to defend a Greenbelt giveaway that would see well-connected developers make $8.3 billion?

Why did they ignore the recommendations of their own housing taskforce?

Now that they’ve wasted years on the Greenbelt scandal, what’s their plan to actually solve Ontario’s housing crisis?

Recent reports from Ontario’s Auditor General and Integrity Commissioner have answered many questions about how this government does business – and it’s not pretty.

But we need to go further to get to the root of this scandal. That’s why Ontario Greens have called for a full public inquiry into Ford’s Greenbelt giveaway.

Dear Premier Ford,

Public trust in your government has reached an all-time-low. Under your watch, accountability and transparency have gone out the window in the name of favours to wealthy, well-connected elites.

Ontarians have serious questions about the “flawed process” used to decide which lands to remove from the Greenbelt.

That’s why I am writing to ask that you request the Lieutenant Governor in Council to establish a commission to conduct a public inquiry into the events that led to the preferential treatment of certain developers in the process of removing protected areas from Ontario’s Greenbelt.

You’ve said yourself that you weren’t aware of how Minister Clark’s Chief of Staff was deciding which lands to remove from the Greenbelt.

There’s clearly more to learn about how these decisions were made.

Everyday Ontarians don’t see the government working for them. They see a government dedicated to enriching their donors.

To restore trust in your government, I’m asking you to establish a full public inquiry.
